Nickelodeon's The Big Green Help
About Our Partnership

National 4-H Council has partnered with Nickelodeon’s “Big Green Help,” an environmental awareness campaign. This initiative is a kid-led movement that provides information and tools to help explain climate change to young people, and connects them to energy-saving and earth-friendly activities in their everyday lives. The partnership supports the 4 H’s Science, Engineering and Technology communications campaign to spark youth interest in science and prepare one million new young people for America’s technology workforce.

There are a lot of exciting things happening with this partnership. Nickelodeon is offering grants to 10 Green Teams—extraordinary youth across the nation that are helping to make smart, eco-friendly changes in their home, school and community. Also, the network is featuring Laura Webber and the 4-H Million Trees Project of Belmont, CA in a 20-second profile showcasing youth who are making a huge impact on the environment airing on Earth Day (April 22).

Check out this page for more details about Nickelodeon’s grants, Laura Webber and the 4-H Million Trees Project profile, the interactive game “Flip N’ Flow,” and to access materials to share with friends, family and mentors.

4-H Science, Engineering and Technology (4-H SET)

One Million New Scientists. One Million New Ideas.™
The 4-H Youth Development Program is directly connected to the research and resources of the 106 landgrant universities and colleges of the Cooperative Extension System. This connection strategically positions 4-H to strengthen US global competitiveness and leadership.

For more than a century, 4-H has engaged our country’s youth in the building blocks of economic success.  This has meant a solid focus on agricultural science, electricity, mechanics, entrepreneurship, and natural sciences. Today, 4-H out-of-school opportunities also exist in subjects like rocketry, robotics, bio-fuels, renewable energy, and computer science. 4-H Science, Engineering and Technology programs reach more than 5 million youth with hands-on learning experiences to encourage young minds and to fill the pipeline of young leaders proficient in science. These experiences are supported by more than a half million dedicated adult volunteers who are placing 4-H youth on a path towards successful careers.
