4‑H Teens Drive Digital Inclusion in Under-Resourced Communities by Teaching Digital Employability Skills to Over 50,000 Adults
National 4-H Council is announcing a vast expansion of its 4-H Tech Changemakers program supported by Verizon, Microsoft, Land O’Lakes, Inc. and Tractor Supply Company. Established in 2017 with support from Microsoft, 4-H Tech Changemakers trains and equips teens to teach adults digital employability skills that include online job seeking, social media marketing, software use, and more.

The Walmart Foundation awarded a $3 million grant to National 4‑H Council to help reach more than 269,000 youth, families, 4‑H professionals and volunteers across the country with essential nutrition education through the 4‑H Healthy Habits program. The program focuses on rural and underserved communities to leverage youth – and their voices – as catalysts to build healthier lifestyles with education and activities in nutrition, wellness, cooking skills, physical activity and budgeting.

USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA-NIFA) announced last week an investment of more than $10.5 million to support educators at technical schools, community and junior colleges, and youth development programs, including Cooperative Extension’s 4‑H program. USDA-NIFA will invest in eight regional and national projects, including a $3 million grant to National 4‑H Council to support the continued development of 4‑H at Home, Cooperative Extension’s positive youth development digital platform on 4‑H.org.

Several partner organizations today announced the launch of the American Connection Project (ACP) interactive Wi-Fi map. The map provides a free resource to help the public locate more than 2,000 free Wi-Fi locations in 49 U.S. states, with more than half at local 4‑H Cooperative Extension offices.
