COMMON MEASURES

The Common Measures Library is a collection of instruments design to help 4-H Continually improve programs so that we can reach even more young people with a life-changing 4-H Experiences.

Common Measures library is a collection of instruments designed to help 4-H continually improve programs so that we can reach even more young people with a life-changing 4-H experience.

The National 4-H Common Measures library includes a collection of evaluations instruments designed to asses the impact of 4-H programs in the following 3 areas:

  • 4-H Experience
  • Program Outcomes (Content Learning and Beyond Ready)
  • Youth Development Outcomes

Please note that the tools are approved for use with 4‑H youth programs only. 4‑H staff and volunteers are encouraged to use the instruments to evaluate the impacts of your local program to make data-driven programming decisions and report program impacts to local stakeholders.

Common Measures can be accessed by 4‑H staff through the log-in below. For all other questions, please contact the Common Measures team at 4HCOMMONMEASURES@FOURHCOUNCIL.EDU.

In addition, all Land Grant Universities 4-H programs are eligible to participate in the National 4-H Index Study. The study provides a point-in-time picture of 4-H youth across the country.

Goals and benefits

The goals of Common Measures are to:

  • Identify a common core of youth outcomes and indicators which can be used to evaluate programs
  • Provide state 4‑H programs with resources to assist them in the planning of local, state-wide and regional evaluations
