Access, Equity and Belonging: Strategies and Resources for Creating Safe and Relevant Spaces in Positive Youth Development Work

The goal for this session is for participants to feel empowered to better understand diverse communities, working towards developing, implementing and evaluating programs with equity and inclusion as core components. Led by members of the Access, Equity and Belonging Committee, this virtual session will address key competencies needed to serve diverse audiences in a meaningful way.

Supporting Volunteers Using the Thriving Model

This PYD Academy is intended for all professionals who plan, deliver, support, and oversee camping programs including front-line educators, faculty, center and/or facility staff, volunteers, specialists, and program leaders. The academy will focus on the importance of implementing positive youth development practices in camp programming. This includes where and how to infuse positive youth development into the camper experience and in the youth leadership training experience.

PYD Academies are brought to you by the 4‑H Standing Committee on Positive Youth Development, a PLWG chartered committee. The purpose of the committee is to advance the science and research foundation of positive youth development across the 4‑H system. 4‑H PYD Academies are produced in collaboration with the National Association of 4-H Youth Development Professionals (NAE4-HYDP) and with the convening and financial support of National 4‑H Council.
