Home Event Calendar Ignite by 4-H National 4-H Summit for Agri-Science

The National 4-H Youth Summit for Agri-Science is a pioneer in the National Youth Summit Series, bringing together teen agriculture and science leaders from across the country to focus on learning about and solving agri-science issues impacting our communities and our economy.

At the summit, high school students develop the skills and knowledge needed for the challenges facing agriculture, food security, and sustainability. Students will work with each other and experts in the agricultural community in this collaborative, hands-on educational setting.

When: March 10-13, 2022
Where: Hyatt Regency Bethesda

The Summit includes:

  • Career Preparation and Networking
  • Educational Workshops
  • Community Action Plan Development
  • Community Service Projects
  • Washington, D.C. Field Trips
  • State Showcase of 4-H Agriculture and STEM Programs

Can’t attend in person this year?

Join 4-H for a one-night only virtual event, where high-school students can spark their interest for their future in agri-science careers from the comfort of their own homes. This live-streaming event will take place on Thursday, March 3, from 7 – 9 pm ET,  and is a separate event from the in-person Agri-Science Summit. Registration is $75 per participant.

The 2022 4-H Agri-science Career Connection Webinar is included in the registration fee for all in-person attendees.

Virtual Event Overview

Participants will be comprised of students from across the country who may or may not be attending the in-person summit. The goal of this webinar is to spark interest and inspire high school students to pursue careers in agriculture. Students will self-select and attend two tracks during the webinar, tracks include:

  • Ag Education & Literacy
  • Ag Advocacy & Policy
  • Ag Technology
  • Food Science/Food Security & Equity
  • Plant Science
  • Animal Science

Tentative Schedule

  • 7:00 p.m. – Welcome / Speaker – Full Group
  • 7:30 – 8 p.m. – Career Panel Round #1 – Breakout Rooms
  • 8:05 – 8:35 p.m. – Career Panel Round #2 – Breakout Rooms
  • 8:40 – 9 p.m. – Wrap Up – Full Group

Janya Green, 2021 Youth in Action Winner

Janya received the Youth in Action Award for Healthy Living, the highest 4-H honor awarded to a 4-H’er for overcoming challenges and using skills gained in 4-H to create a lasting impact in his or her community. Growing up on her family’s farm, Janya Green knows first-hand about agriculture and the challenges America’s farmers face.  Her interest in agriculture channeled into a passion for service when she met Sam, her 4-H mentor, who not only exposed her to a budding community garden initiative but also opened her eyes to a world of opportunities through 4-H. Through the program, Janya developed leadership skills and found her voice as she stepped up to lead the Village Community Garden in Worth County, Georgia.
